Janet Peischel has fallen in love with a pug

About the Owner

I live in Berkeley, home of all things politically correct. This is where old Volvos come to die, where food is celebrated, where rice is brown and green is a religion. This is where my local cinema runs the moody foreign films that I love, the kind that you have to read and where nothing happens.

Berkeley may be the most liberal city in California--the bankrupt state where Governor Moonbeam is back in the Governor's Mansion. Why, I don't know; he could be out working on his tan and perfecting his golf swings.

I’m a politics junkie, and it’s important that I live in a blue state. During the Bush era, this is where bumper stickers read "Who would Jesus bomb", and Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Newman declared, "I knew in my guts he was nuts."

It is here in my Berkeley community that I look around and wonder if I look like all the rest of these aging hippies who are my neighbors, and I suspect that I do.

While I have more than 25 years of comprehensive business development and marketing experience in corporate cultures, it is the one-on-one relationships that I now have with my clients that I enjoy most.

I live near the San Francisco Bay and love to ride my bike along the shore. Travel is my opiate, and I'm writing a book that talks about all the things that the travel guides don't--things I have learned from more than 25 years of solo travel adventures. I believe it is my travel experiences that have shaped my world view. Visiting a country, meeting its people and understanding the culture make you a stakeholder in that country’s affairs.

The year of the dog

This is the year that I'm finally going to break down and get a dog. I've fallen madly in love with a pug in my neighborhood.
